Joomla XbArticleMan Extension

Joomla 5 version of xbArticle Manager is now available.

The Joomla 3 component remains in place for those, like me, with J3 sites continuing for the foreseeable future.

xbArticleMan aims to provide some useful additional tools for backend administration of Joomla content. It provides views for finding Images, Links, Shortcodes and Tags in, or associated with, com_content articles and checking their validity.

- If you've ever disabled or removed a content plugin and been left with spurious shortcodes scattered throughout your articles you'll find this invaluable.
- If you link to external sites, either as links or to images, this is the tool you need to quickly check that they are still available.
- If your media files need restructuring and you want to find the links you've broken by moving things around then this will help
- If you make proper use of Joomla's tagging facilities for articles and for other component items this will let you find items that are, or are not, assigned to a given tag.
- If you use a lot of tags and want to organise them into groups so that every article has at least one genre and one location tag then the introduction of tags groups here is a boon (even more so when I get around to developing additional front-end view for xbArticleMan to supplement some of the limitations of con_content.

Currently xbArticleMan offers seven views in the backend:
- Dashboard - a summary of the counts of articles, tags, images, links and shortcodes
- Articles:Links - shows details of the articles related (A-B-C) links, and any < a > elements embedded in the article text. Internal links are checked immediately for validity, and external links can be checked on demand (might take a bit of time if you have a lot of them)
- Articles:Images - does the same thing for Featured images and embedded < img > links. Immediate modal previews of images and links are provided.
- Articles:Shortcodes - shows you details of all of the plugin {shortcodes} found in articles and gives you a text preview of each article with the shortcodes highlighted so that you can see the context.
- Articles:Tags - provides a list of all the tags used by articles with filtering and batch add and remove facilities.
- Tag:Items - shows you not only all of the articles assigned to a particular tag, but also (optionally) other component items using the tags. Start to unleash the real power of Joomla's cross-component tagging facilities.
- Article:Edit - finally xbArticleman includes a simplified editor to edit the tags, related links, featured images, as well as html editing of the content for correcting eroors in embedded links, images, and shortcodes from within the xbArticleMan context.
